FRENCH IMMERSION

École Avalon School has a very special status in southwest Edmonton. Since September of 1981 it has been offering the French Immersion program for students who have been taking Immersion French since Grade 1. Today Avalon is the largest Junior High program in Edmonton Public Schools. Students receive instruction in French in Math, Science, Social Studies, and French Language Arts. All programs come together for complementary courses and Physical Education.

Students in the French Immersion program participate, when possible, in French Immersion field trips, cultural days, and have the opportunity to travel to France in grade 9.

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Academic Enrichment offers Grades 7–9 students challenging academic experiences by deepening their learning in the core subjects of Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts and Social Studies. It helps prepare junior high students for academic programming in high school, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate (I.B.).
